Today, Curaçaoan food is a rich mix of African, Caribbean, and colonial influences, prepared with love and bold island flavor. Meals are often slow-cooked, deeply seasoned, and served with local staples such as rice, plantains, or funchi (cornmeal).
Some of Curaçao’s most beloved traditional dishes include:
Stoba – A hearty stew, often made with goat, beef, or iguana, simmered until tender with herbs and vegetables.
Kabritu Stoba – A flavorful goat stew, one of the island’s true specialties.
Funchi – A cornmeal side dish, similar to polenta, often served with stews or fish.
Tutu – A sweet-and-savory mix of black beans, cornmeal, and coconut milk.
Stoba di Papaya – Papaya stew, a sweet-and-savory favorite.
Stoba di Repolyo – Cabbage stew, rich and hearty.
Stoba di Banana – Banana stew, blending fruit and spice in a comforting dish.
Stoba di Bonchi Korá – Long green bean stew, flavorful and traditional.
Sopi di Yama – Cactus soup, a unique and refreshing island specialty.
Sopi di Yambo – Okra soup, thick and full of earthy island flavor.
Local meals are best enjoyed with an ice-cold drink, a sea breeze, and good company, because on Curaçao, food is not just nourishment, it’s a celebration of life and history.
For our tours, we use open-air buses, allowing you to fully enjoy the island breeze and scenic views.
